Structures for Power Engineering
In the area of steel structures for power engineering, we offer load-bearing steel structures of primary parts such as power plants, incineration plants and machine rooms. With our space and technological possibilities we have unique know-how to produce a load-bearing grates and bandages of a boiler. As regards secondary parts, we offer steel structures of ramps and staircase towers, and structures of fuel silos, bunkers and column bases.

Projection and Construction
The major activity of the Projection and Construction department is a comprehensive offer of steel structures solutions. It is a complete service bundle that deals with the steel structure from a concept to a final product.
The Service Bundle Includes:
- Global steel structure analysis (projection)
- Details design and evaluation
- Creating production documentation
- Transformation of product documentation to production
- Supervising during the production and installation
A team of experts with long-term experience in the field is led by a certified ČKAIT person in the field of bridges and engineering structures. The department creates 3D models of various bridge, technological structures and hall systems, to which creating projection documentation, including statistical calculations and detailed production documentation, is connected. Technical solutions respect the terms and conditions stated by the Czech and international standards while emphasising the simplicity of the structure design.
VÄRTAVERKET Power Plant
Description: The delivery of a load-bearing steel structure of the VÄRTAVERKET biomass boiler weighing 1,000 tons. The order included creating the production documentation of the steel structure for the entire project (about 3,600 tons), which was used by other two subcontractors of AE&E. We confirmed our position of a reliable partner of the international concern AE&E by helping to finish the project documentation in Graz, Austria, in the seat of AE&E, and by supplying quality production documentation and an accurate steel structure.

Test Production of a submodule segment for Westinghouse Electric Company
Description: Westinghouse Electric Company signed a contract with Vítkovice Power Engineering a.s., (a member of the Vítkovice Machinery Group) for producing a testing critical module of the AP1000 nuclear reactor. This significant project was a part of the preparation for the possible construction of AP1000® reactors by Westinghouse. Submodule 05 that is a cut-out part of the larger CA-20 module was constructed in Vítkovice Power Engineering. The CA-20 module, which represents a part of a power plant where spent fuel is stored, consists of 72 submodule and weighs 900 tons (so called dry weight). The contract follows on the amendment from January 2013 about the existing memorandum of understanding with Vítkovice a.s., Vítkovice Heavy Machinery a.s., Vítkovice Power Engineering and Hutní montáže a.s. According to the terms and conditions of the agreement, these significant Czech companies joined the team offering the Temelín project AP1000 as potential producers of key construction and mechanical modules if the AP1000 reactor is chosen to be the solution for finishing the Temelín nuclear power plant extension. The CA20-05 submodule that together with other modules is used for storing spent fuel of the Westinghouse AP 1000 nuclear power plant. The testing module was produced in conformance with American standards. VÍTKOVICE is the first and so far the only company in Europe to manage the production of the module. The module is 8 tons in weight.
Adularya – Air Heaters
Description: VÍTKOVICE POWER ENGINEERING produced 32 tubular air heaters for the Adularya project – Yunus Emre in Turkey. The heat exchanger is composed of a bunch of straight tubes that are rolled or welded to a tube plate. The whole bunch is closed in a steel frame.

ELKV ÖRTOFTA POWER PLANT, LUND
Description: On 25th October 2013, the steel structure of the Örtofta boiler house in southern Sweden was handed over to the customer. After almost a year, the installation was done and the entire project finished. It took approximately a year and a half, including production. The whole assembled structure weighs over 1,200 tons. The boiler house will supply heat to about 50,000 households and has a turbine for the production of electrical energy of 39 MW. It will be fuelled by wood chops and recycled wood. It should be commissioned in March 2014. The delivery contained more than 1,000 tons of steel structure, including assembly. The final height of the structure will be almost 50 m. The production started in 2012 and assembly was finished in May 2013.

KLADNO POWER PLANT, K7
Description: The production, delivery and assembly of a boiler steel structure, bandages, steel grates and handrails, including coating. The major parts of columns, beams and stiffenings are made of S235 and S355 plates as welded profiles (I-shaped) with connection plates for screwed connection. Partial assembly sets were also assembled in our production halls. The total weight of the product was 2,300 t.

ADULARYA – BOILER HOUSES
Description: The production and delivery of steel structures for two pulverised coal-fired boilers, including anchor baskets, coating structures, load-bearing boiler frames, platforms and grates weighing 3,600 t in total.

TEMISCAMING INCINERATION PLANT
Description: VÍTKOVICE POWER ENGINEERING produced and delivered 900 tons of steel structures for an incineration plant in Temiscaming, Quebeck, Canada. The production took almost three and a half months and included the production of a 500 t load-bearing and about a 400 t secondary structures, i.e. platforms, walls, lift shafts and handrails. Production certification in conformance with Canadian regulations was required. The order was unique also because of difficult transport of the structures. Vítkovice Power Engineering signed the contract for this delivery with Andritz, an Austrian company, which it has cooperated with for a long time. The end customer was Tembec, a Canadian company.

The production and assembly of steel structures reaches back to the second half of the 19th century. Our company is among the oldest and largest steel structure supplier not only in the Czech Republic, but also in the surrounding countries. Our traditional partner in the field of steel structure assembly is the Hutní montáže company.
In 2012, VÍTKOVICE POWER ENGINEERING extended its services by steel structure assembly. It deals especially with the assembly of steel structures of road and railway bridges and heavy halls. Our technicians take care of the assembly design and technological and welding procedures. The delivery includes comprehensive subcontractor equipment such as the production and design of items needed for assembly, geodetic works, destructive and non-destructive testing, supporting structures, etc.
